Japan'S Air Freight Prices Continued To Rise After The Earthquake.
Following the March 12 - 18 freight index rose to 761.69 points, the Shanghai Shipping Exchange's March to 19 - 25 China's export to Japan Air Freight Index rose again 3.1%, closing at 785.56 points.
According to the analysis, China's emergency export to Japan, and the order of Japan's ports, which need to be restored after the earthquake and tsunami, are all factors driving the rise of freight rates.

A Maersk shipping spokesman said Tokyo and Yokohama had to cut power for 1 to 3 hours a day to disrupt normal loading and unloading operations.

For other badly damaged ports, Japanese officials hope to resume local functions within a few weeks.
