The Daily Star reported on May 21 that the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association planned to launch a local e-commerce platform and seek policy support from the Bangladesh government. According to the research, by 2027, the local e-commerce platform may account for 0.2% of the market share in the United States, 0.1% in the European Union and 0.75% in Africa, with an annual revenue of $489 million. The former chairman Farouk Hassan said that Meng's clothing business needs an e-commerce platform. Amazon and Alibaba's online sales of Meng's clothing business are very good and should seize this opportunity. The current chairman Mannan also said that he would try to persuade the government to modify the e-commerce policy so as to launch an e-commerce platform for clothing trade with international partners, which would shorten the delivery time, reduce enterprise costs, simplify the business process of international trade, reduce the number of intermediaries, and ultimately make Bangladesh Clothing more competitive.
